Even if you know nothing about Ancient Egypt, it's hard not to be completely mesmerised by the wonderful King Tut exhibition that is currently on show in New York City. Located in a gallery just off the esteemed Times Square, a visit to this memorable exhibition will ensure that you can combine a rewarding cultural experience amidst all the shopping and Broadway show-hopping you'll be doing.

King Tutankhamen was a ruler of Ancient Egypt who ascended the throne at just nine years of age. Determined to right the wrongs of the Pharaoh before him, a ruler who dictated that all of Egypt's many gods be ignored in favour of worshipping one - Aten, the Sun god - King Tut set about reversing these laws and opening the minds of the Egyptians once more to allow them to freely worship each and every god that they believed ruled the universe.

Even going as far to change his name from Tutankhaten to the name he has been known by for centuries - Amun, who was another god that was a focus of Egyptian theology at the time - the young king made great changes to the country, building countless temples of worship in honour of the gods and appeasing the people in ways his predecessor had not. His rule was a happy one until his sudden death in 1323 BC, when he was around eighteen or nineteen years of age. Much speculation has followed his death, of which the true cause is unknown, though there are clues that he may have died accidentally from an infected broken leg. However, no conclusive evidence has surfaced.

The exhibition collects many of the fascinating objects discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter back on that famous event in 1922. From awe-inspiring sarcophaguses to mesmerising jewellery worn by the king himself, you'll be taken on a trip through the ages to learn in detail all about the life of the boy king, his people and his land. At the end of the exhibition, you'll even get a chance to see a replica of King Tut's body itself - which is a sight you'll never forget even hours later when in the different world of your New York hotels.

Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs will be appearing at the Discovery Times Square Exposition for a limited time only, so don't miss out on this once in a lifetime experience.
