No matter what your taste in music, there are some songs that most people love to listen to when in the car, whether you're navigating the mean streets of the city or belting through the countryside. Without going over the speed limit, that is.
A driving song isn't necessarily great because it's about driving, but because there's something about the beat, instruments, vocals and chorus that makes a song so excellent when it comes on the radio and you're behind the wheel. In many cases, the type of songs that make ideal driving music tend to be those with rocking drums, catchy guitar riffs and memorable choruses that you just can't help singing along to. This means that classic rock tunes are always something to look out for, and any of the hits by AC/DC, Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith are very likely to make you crank up the volume and raise your voice.
While it's common to hear all different types of music in the car, there's no mistaking that some songs are far more likely than others to get you in the mood for singing. Nowadays, maybe people enjoy listening to hip hop and rap music while driving, but it isn't until those classic rock tunes come on that the drive really livens up. Similarly, plenty of people prefer listening to classical music when they're behind the wheel as the genre can provide a relaxing way to make the journey, but if the station was switched and Bohemian Rhapsody came on, it takes a lot of willpower to resist recreating the memorable scene from Wayne's World that involves a lot of headbanging at the song's most crucial moment.
Some of the other bands that tend to make great driving music include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Queen, The Police, Sex Pistols, KISS, Blondie, Cheap Trick, Eagles, Led Zeppelin and The Kinks - to name just a few. These and many other bands that have iconic hits that everybody knows are always fantastic to play in the car, particularly if there's a group of you so you can rock out together.
Of course, rocking out in the car is one thing and safe driving is another - so be sure to stay safe when you're behind the wheel, no matter how much you love the song, or you may end up with a few windscreen scratches to match your rock and roll driving style!
