There can be a lot of do around Christmas time, so relaxation may be the last thing on your mind. With presents to wrap, cards to write and dinner to cook, your diary in December may be pretty packed. However, Christmas is also the perfect holiday to spend quality time with your family and friends. A good way to do this can be to cosy in for a Christmas film night to really get you in the mood for December the 25th. The television will no doubt be jam packed with Christmas movies, so you will have plenty to choose from, but here are some of the most popular ones.



An absolute classic when it comes to Christmas movies is the short film The Snowman. The Snowman was first shown on Channel 4 in 1982, and tells the story of a small boy being whisked off to visit Santa by a snowman he built in his garden. Though the film has no words, and is simply told through the pictures, it is an excellent Christmas story that is sure to be a favourite with every generation.



If you are looking for something to keep the kids entertained this Christmas, then it may be a good idea to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol, as it is a Christmas classic. While there are a few versions of A Christmas Carol out there for you to choose from, The Muppet Christmas Carol will no doubt be a favourite with the younger generations. Staying very true to the original Charles Dickens' novel, the story follows Ebenezer Scrooge as he tries to learn the true meaning of Christmas. With songs aplenty, this is sure to get everyone in the festive mood.





If you are looking for something a little bit different to watch this Christmas, then why not try The Nightmare Before Christmas. While this particular movie may not seem very festive, it tells the story of the residents of Halloween town trying to take over Christmas for them, as being scary is getting a bit boring.



Watching Christmas movies can really help get you in the festive mood, and give you the time you need to relax with friends and family in the run up the big day. So why not dig out the Christmas DVDs, see what movies are on the sky movie channels, and look forward to a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
