Having long been established as one of the cultural hotspots of Europe, it is of little surprise that Prague is one of the most visited European cities. Whether it’s a weekend break or an extended holiday the city has something for everyone. Here are some things you should plan your holiday around.

Prague is rich with cultutral atractions on seemingly every street. Having been one of the few cities to survive much of the damage caused by two world wars, the city has some truly unique buildings that must not be missed, and its magical mixture of Medieval, Baroque, Renaissance and Modern architecture makes Prague one of the most enchanting cities in Europe. Prague Castle is undoubtedly one of the most important cultural sites in city. Having been rebuilt numerous times over the course of its existence, visitors to the castle will see and learn that it represents a vast array of architectural styles and historical changes. St Vitus Cathedral, which stands inside the castle is a true sight to behold. Its towers lead you to some of the best views in Prague, and the entire area is littered with fantastic museums and exhibitions.

It would be easy to settle into a routine of visiting only old cultural sites that dominate the city, but Prague is also home to a vast amount of modern cultural sites that should not be overlooked. Be sure to visit the contemporary art centres displaying some of Europe’s most forward thinking artists and exhibitions.

Prague is a fantastic city for anyone who enjoys walking, with things to see on every street. The promenades that follow the river offer some beautiful views as well as nice romantic spots to spend time with your loved ones. If you tire of walking around be sure to stop and try some of the local food and beer available all over the city. Prague is also home to the first Michelin-starred restaurant in the Czech Republic, offering some real fine dining experiences that can make your holiday that bit extra sepcial.

There is a wide range of accomodation on offer, from cheap youth hostels to high end luxurious hotels that will cater to your every need. However, flights to Prague can vary hugely in price so be sure to book well in advance if you’re planning a trip there. Needless to say, Prague is the perfect city for romantic weekends away or for prolonged cultural exploration.
