The fashion world of 2011 is looking set to be a very different beast to 2010, with a new infusion of colour and a focus on sultry shapes not seen for several seasons. Leave your black clothes at the back of the wardrobe this summer, as 2011 teaches women everywhere to be bright, resplendent and confident in their appearance.
That's not to say the new year is set to be a garish 80s revival though, as colour coordination is the name of the game - particularly when balancing warm and colder tones. These colours don't have to be bold and obvious either, with some of the biggest colours gracing the catwalks being the red-pink hue of honeysuckle - as seen in the design collections of Christian Dior, Lanvin and others - and the similarly natural colours of lavender and beeswax. Blue is another popular colour, particularly in regal and sea shades rather than lighter tones.
It's not just colour that's undergoing a revolution this year either, as the dominance of skinny and petite figures will be challenged by an abundance of designs favouring the pear-shaped physique. Those looking to create a striking impression should also find plenty of opportunities to embrace asymmetry in their look, particularly with lapels and hemlines, while domed shoulders could see you casting a mean shadow.
