In the world of gaming, things move quickly - and that's not just in the games themselves. The massive increases in IT and gaming technology that have taken place in the last ten years have changed the world of gaming beyond belief. And these days, the kind of gaming experience many once thought was in the realms of science fiction has shown itself to be entirely possible not only in the real world, but also in every living room across the country. With new offerings from all the big names, including Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, the future of gaming never looked brighter - or more hi-tech!

It's not just the last ten years that have been instrumental in changing the gaming landscape so dramatically, the 1990s were also a time of great video game innovation and it was during that decade that games evolved from 2-Dimensional graphics to 3D for a better and more immersive game-playing experience. It was also during this period that some of the most loved genres of game first appeared, such as the first person shooter, MMO and real-time strategy games.

However, the next ten years were set to be even more innovative in their offerings, and it can easily be said that the last decade of gaming is one that has massively changed the landscape for serious to casual gamers alike. It's during this period that Microsoft entered the console gaming fray by releasing the Xbox and quickly snatching up a whole new fan base.

There's also been another huge leap when it comes to graphic capabilities. In the 21st century, the current gen of consoles available are able to render some truly amazing graphics, ensuring game play is smooth and interruption free and making sure that games feel more realistic than ever before.

One of the other areas in which gaming has come in leaps and bounds in recent years is in the field of motion sensors. The Nintendo Wii was the first out of the gate with its new way of ditching static, wired controllers and replacing them with a dynamic system that expected the gamer to get a little more involved by using body movements to control their actions in the game. But the PlayStation crew wasn't far behind with the PlayStation Move and Microsoft has jumped into the water too with Kinect, so gamers will not only be able to use their Xbox 360 wireless controller, but also their whole bodies to control their gaming experience.

With so many innovations in such a short time, you can rest assured the next ten years will bring even more exciting changes to the world of gaming.
