Children grow out of clothes so fast that buying new items of clothing can sometimes feel like you're burning money. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid breaking the bank when finding new outfits for kids of all ages and sizes, when you keep your eyes peeled for the best deals.

You have many options open to you when looking for cheap children's clothes, especially if you live near a city centre with many of the country's top retailers. While there are some retailers that devote themselves entirely to budget clothing, some parents choose to avoid these stores due to differing opinions over the quality of the products and the methods used in their manufacture. Although there are doubtless some great outfits to be found in these low-price stores, the truth is that you don't have to limit your horizons to the cheapest shops to enjoy the bargains.

Even some high-end retailers have clearance racks where you can find excellent deals on cut-price clothing, much of it just as good as the items you'd find on the regular shelves. These clothes may simply be of an older design, something that matters very little when you're kitting out your kids. Young children in particular don't have the same peer-pressured attitude towards branding and company logos that older children and teenagers typically do, so you should enjoy greater freedom when choosing clothes that really suit your kids.

If you have your own car and a free afternoon, heading to your nearest retail park can also be a great place to bag bargain clothing, especially from factory outlets offering kids clothes at wholesale or near-wholesale prices. Some of the lowest prices may not be found in physical stores at all, as online retailers are often able to offer cheaper deals due to the savings they make on overheads compared to high street stores.

Remember that another great way to find cheap clothes is to consider buying them second-hand - something that many people dismiss out of hand, but that can lead to some of the biggest savings, especially when buying high quality clothes that could cost a small fortune when bought new.

Some of these items may not even be truly 'used,' if they were bought for occasions that children never attended before they grew out of them, or if they simply hung at the back of a wardrobe due to forgetfulness. Regardless of their history, you'll be able to inspect clothing for any signs of damage or stains when browsing second hand items in charity shops or car boot sales.
